Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder to Return
Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment Joins Warner Bros. for the Project
After years of speculation, a sequel to the beloved 1988 film "Beetlejuice" has finally been announced. Brad Pitt's studio, Plan B Entertainment, will produce the film alongside Warner Bros., with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder returning to their iconic roles as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz, respectively.
The sequel, which has been titled "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," is set to release in both the UK and US theaters on September 6, 2023. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but it is expected to follow the adventures of Beetlejuice and Lydia as they navigate the afterlife together.
The original "Beetlejuice" film, directed by Tim Burton, became a critical and commercial success, grossing over $74 million worldwide. It has since become a cult classic and is widely considered one of the greatest horror comedies ever made.
The sequel has been in development for several years, with Brad Pitt initially expressing interest in producing it in 2015. The project has faced several setbacks, including the death of original director Burton in 2013. However, it appears that the film is finally ready to move forward, and fans of the original will undoubtedly be thrilled to see Keaton and Ryder reprise their iconic roles.
