Israel's allies, including the United States, Britain, and Germany, have joined other world leaders in repeatedly pressing Mr. Netanyahu to form a government that includes centrist and left-wing parties.

In the March 2023 general election, Netanyahu's Likud party won the most seats but fell short of a majority. To form a government, Likud will need to form a coalition with other parties. However, potential coalition partners have expressed concerns about Netanyahu's far-right and religious allies.
Netanyahu has said that Israel will "make its own decisions about how to defend itself." This statement comes amid pressure from Western countries to avoid unilateral action against Iran's nuclear program.
