At Least Four Killed, Thousands Without Power

Widespread Damage Reported

Severe thunderstorms brought a series of tornadoes to southern Oklahoma on Saturday, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Authorities confirmed that at least four people have been killed, and thousands of residents are without power as of Sunday.

Holdenville Hard Hit

One of the hardest-hit areas was the town of Holdenville, where a tornado ripped through the community late Saturday. Two people were killed and four others were injured in Holdenville.

Wide-Ranging Impacts

The tornadoes caused widespread damage to homes and businesses across several counties. The National Weather Service reported 16 separate reports of tornadoes in Oklahoma on Saturday, ranging from minor to significant damage.

Power Outages Persist

Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) reported that over 20,000 customers were still without power as of Sunday morning. Crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible, but widespread outages are expected to continue for some time.

Officials Respond

State and local officials are responding to the disaster. Governor Kevin Stitt has declared a state of emergency and ordered the deployment of the Oklahoma National Guard to assist with recovery efforts. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has also dispatched teams to Oklahoma to provide federal support.
